FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What exactly is Window Film and what is it used for?

Ok, so what exactly is Window Film?  Initially you may think it is the sticky stuff you can get that sticks to windows and cuts the sun out!  However, it is much more complex than that!

Most window films are made up of several very fine layers.  The obvious layer would be the adhesive which enables the film to stick to the glass, other layers will include a polyester base and scratch resistant coatings.  The primary use for Window Film is for solar control, reducing the heat, glare and Ultra Violet.  Other uses would be for safety, security, privacy and cosmetics, and are all reasons for using it at home, at the work place and in your car.

Can I apply the film myself?

Anyone could have a go at applying window film to flat glass, as the method appears pretty straight forward.  Basically you need to peel off the backing liner from the window film, prepare the glass for application by thoroughly cleaning it and scraping off any dirt, and then spray the window down with a solution of mild soapy water (Baby shampoo is the most commonly used product worldwide however we sell the Dirt Off and Film On Concentrates which are highly recommended).  Once you have positioned the film onto the glass you will need to squeegee it out to ensure that there are no air pockets as these will be highly noticeable.  We do NOT recommend application on automotives other than by trained dealers as this is applied to curved glass and requires professional training to ensure a perfect finished product.

Do you have someone near to me that can apply the film professionally for me?

Yes.  We have an extensive network of authorised installers throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland.  Please contact us either by e-mail at sales@reflexis.co.uk or telephone on  0870 766 9312  and we will be able to direct you through to your local authorised dealer.

How long will it last?

Window films are extremely durable and typically last 5-10 years and more, depending on where they are applied. There are documented cases of films lasting 22 years.

What happens if I want it removed?

No problem. The film itself can be pulled from the glass which will generally leave adhesive residue on the glass. This is removed by spraying with soapy water and using a razor-scraper. No need for any over-powering adhesive removers.

Can I clean the window after a film is applied?

Yes, using a soft cloth or paper towel to clean and the same or a rubber squeegee to dry. Use mild detergent or every-day glass cleaning solutions. Basically, avoid using abrasive tools and chemicals.
